The Virtual Exhibition

Four halls, each holding a small set of short historical entries on colonial leisure. No photographs of people or interiors are used — only text and architectural ornament.

Note: Entries describe general historical patterns and are marked "verify against historical record" where dates or specifics require confirmation. This exhibition contains no depictions of stakes, wagers, or money changing hands.

Hall I — Card Rooms

The card room was the quiet centre of many colonial clubs, host to whist and later bridge, governed by house rules rather than statute.

Hall II — Racecourses

Racecourses combined sport, architecture and the colonial social calendar, drawing both club members and the wider public.

Hall III — Ballrooms

Ballroom evenings anchored the club social calendar, often running alongside a quieter card room for guests who preferred not to dance.

Hall IV — Billiard Rooms

Billiard rooms doubled as informal meeting spaces, and are often mentioned in accounts of the early history of snooker.
